Before we get too upset, please know I did not make this decision lightly. I’ve been pondering the idea for about two months, watching trends, analyzing data, etc. At the end of the day it all boils down to this: data availability and consistency.
The information we get from data mining guilds’ sales history is limited to text only. Since the new system started, we’ve been manually entering jewelry, which is very time consuming and sporadic. This also limits the amount of sales we can record each month, meaning we’re not providing a an accurate snapshot of jewelry sales. We all know gold items cost more than green, and item color isn’t provided for any other item in the database, so why should jewelry be the exception? I’d rather see hundreds of jewelry sales that paint a bigger picture rather than a handful looking like a poorly drawn stick figure.
